After graduating from University of Kentucky, Go Cats! I moved back to Chevy Chase Maryland and started working for a local moving business in DC. I enjoyed it so much that it almost didn’t seem like a real job to me. I was able to get a great work out with friends and I was getting paid for it. It was a pretty sweet deal.
A little while later I started to feel peer pressure to join the corporate world. So I decided to follow the heard of young college bachelor degrees willing to take any entry level “corporate job” available. This was during the recession so finding an entry-level job was particularly difficult. I managed to lock down a position working for a bank in the commercial loans department. I was happy to be employed but the work I was doing left me unfulfilled. My 9 to 5 consisted of staring at a computer screen while typing in numbers like a robot.
After about six months of mind numbing busy work I became increasingly paranoid that someone would develop a robot to replace me. That paranoia combined with a passion to break away from the norm lead me to Mic’s Moving. I organized a group of my friends to perform local move jobs in the back of my pickup truck. About a thousand moves later, I saved up enough money to buy large box truck and become a legitimate licensed and insured moving company.
Due to my outstanding team of movers and our amazing customers, I enjoy my job every day. I am doing what makes me happy and love providing personalized, affordable, and professional service. This starts at the moment someone submits a move request until they are happily settled into a new residence.
I’m proud of the family business that we've created at Mic's Moving. With the help of many people around me, especially the hard working group of crew members who have stuck around for many years, we have built a successful moving company. My goal is to continue to grow the business so that we can create long term career paths for our dedicated employees and help ease the moving process across the DMV and beyond.
